Over the years we have used a lot of homemade testers amounting to nothing more than a few pipes with an air chuck on one end and a hose bib on the other. The few manifolds that are sold professionally fall short of anything we call effective and your manifold is an importaint tool in finding a leak. After years of testing new ideas, we believe this manifold is the best design ever produced so lets go over the features: We adopted the wide triangle design that is stable when working in odd places such as resting the unit on the top of pool filters or on top of the bushes surrounding the pump. This upright posture is importaint because you need to keep your eye on the gauge from far away. We use PVC pipe with a greater free flow diameter because it is quiet and the last thing you want is a noisy metal manifold that shakes rattles and rolls on a cement deck during a tough leak. The final discharge tube is a long clear PVC pipe that shows the mixture of air/water as it leaves the manifold. Often the visible frequency of the air/water mix leaving the manifold is the same as the sound the leak will make underground. We went to extreme lengths to design this manifold to sit on 2" thick rubber feet to absorb shock and keep it quiet. Each foot holds a 1/2 lb of lead that keeps the unit from being pulled around by the air and water hoses that are attached to it. The feet also have a place to wrap the hose when not in use.
We also incorporated a 30PSI pressure release valve that automatically opens if the pressure gets to unsafe levels This blowout valve and pressure gauge can be protected by a separate valve during high pressure blowouts of clogged lines.
