The real advantage of the Butterfly plug is it wont cover over the crack

in the first few inches of a pipe like a rubber plug will.

This is just a good practice and the proper way to pressure test plumbing.

This won't leave the leak undiscovered and everybody wondering what went wrong

with the test. The plug is also hand tightened without tools so you don't have to get off

the pool deck and go get another tool to remove it. The bright orange color

is quite visible and suggests the the pipes are plugged and maybe the pump

should not be turned on. The center hole is threaded for a common air compressor fitting

so the plug can be drilled and used as an induction plug. You can use the triangle picks to

clean out threads and pick off cement. All together this upgraded plug saves a lot of fumbling around

and silly mistakes and will probably increase your efficiency in the field by 30%.
